Routemagz - So why would Toyota fly me 10,000 miles to drive a truck that no one really buys? My guess is that it makes for a great story, because when you think about it, the Land Cruiser is a quintessentially Australian machine.
It’s modern and sophisticated, much like the Aussies themselves, and yet, it’s designed to handle the most rugged of terrain. After all, we’re talking about a people who built civilization on a continent where pretty much everything wants to kill you.

More Questions

So what’s new about the Land Cruiser and why should you care? The first part of that question is much easier to answer. The short story is there’s a new look, a new transmission, plus new safety and convenience features.
The second part of that question is the one I’ve been asking myself since I first started researching all the deadly wildlife native to Australia, from the snakes to the spiders and the drop bears. The answer is far less clear.
But let’s get back to the what’s new.


Selling just about 3,000 trucks a year, it’s fair to say that a lot of folks just don’t “get” the Land Cruiser. It takes a special breed to spend close to six figures on a Toyota.
But those who get it, really get it. Toyota has nailed down the buyer profile so precisely that only one version is offered: fully loaded. You pick your color and a choice of two interiors (black or brown). That’s it. There are no trim levels and no options.

Toyota Can Do Luxury

As a result, it’s extremely well-equipped. There’s almost every luxury feature you could want and it’s a beautiful place to be in. Yes, it’s a Toyota, but this is not a Corolla, folks.
There’s a push-button ignition, four-zone automatic climate control, a heated power steering wheel, radar cruise control, a 14-speaker audio system and even a fridge in the center console.


For 2016, the cabin has been modernized with a new 9-inch display screen with Toyota’s Entune system, plus it has wireless charging for your cellphone. Back seat passengers can even enjoy the standard entertainment system with two 11.6-inch screens.
The safety suite is impressive and now boasts lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring with rearcross traffic alert as well as both frontal avoidance and frontal collision mitigation systems that will apply the brakes at speeds below 24 mph to either help minimize the impact of a collision or prevent it entirely. It might even work on Kangaroos.
When it comes to on-road manners, there’s no forgetting it’s a truck. When the road gets choppy, there’s plenty of wobble in the chassis. At the same time, once you leave the beaten path for the dirt trail, it’s surprisingly refined, from the smoothness of the ride to how well it isolates you from the harshness of the rocks you’re kicking up outside.


If you are thinking of buying a Land Cruiser as a functional family vehicle, it’s important to note that it does have three full rows and adults will fit in the third row, though their knees might be up near their chin.
The second-row seats can slide forward or back by 4.1 inches and there’s an easy-release mechanism to flip the seats forward for easier (but not exactly easy) access to the third row.
If there’s any complaint to be made about the interior, it’s that there is only one, yes one, USB port.

New Look, Not That You’d Notice

Outside, the design has been revamped from the side mirrors forward. You might not notice though, because it’s not really that dramatic a change and, lets face it, you probably never knew what the Land Cruiser looked like before anyway.


The rear also gets a mild makeover wit a new bumper, and LED taillights.
Compared to luxury SUVs in its price range, it’s certainly unassuming. It doesn’t look very luxurious and it certainly doesn’t look very off-road ready. You won’t find any 22s here. Instead, it’s comes with subtle 18-inch wheels with huge sidewalls because this beast is meant to go off road. And where better to leave civilization behind than in the Outback?

Off-Road Features Abound

With 9.1 inches of ground clearance, skid plates, a 30-degree approach angle and 20-degree departure angle, it’s amazing what the Land Cruiser can cruise right over.
As a proper off-roader, it comes with a two speed transfer case with a set of low range gears while a center limited slip differential splits power 40/60 front to rear. But the list of off-road tricks, making use of some serious technology, is extensive.


Much like other modern trucks, it offers selectable programs designed to suit your environment. The Multi Terrain Select lets you pick between five drive modes: Mud and Sand, Loose Rock, Moguls, Rock and Dirt and Rock.
This is available in some other Toyota trucks, but the Land Cruiser pairs it with a Multi-Terrain Monitor that uses this luxury SUV’s front, rear and side mirrors to give you a view of your surroundings, because, let’s be honest, having to actually get out and check by yourself is for poor people.
If getting dirty is your thing, a lot of off-road guys will detach their sway bars for better wheel articulation. But not here. The Land Cruiser uses what Toyota calls a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that hydraulically adjusts the sway bars for you. This is particularly helpful when going over obstacles or through ruts.

Off-Roading Cruise Control

There are too many off road features to keep running down the list, but one that can’t be ignored is Crawl Control. Just engage it with a button on the center console, select one of the five speed settings and then it takes over the brakes and throttle and all you do is steer. Down hill or up hill; it’s off-roading cruise control.


A sign of just how much Toyota understands off-roaders, the tire pressure monitoring system actually also watches the full-size spare tire because the only thing worse than needing your spare is discovering that it’s flat.
And the Land Cruiser is a true truck in more ways than one. It can off-road with the best of them, but it can also tow with an 8,100-lb rating.
That’s due in part to the powerplant. While you can get a V8 turbo-diesel in Australia, U.S. Cruiserscome with a 5.7-liter V8 mated to a new eight-speed automatic.
Fuel economy isn’t great on paper, and it’s not any better in real life. Even with relaxed driving, we couldn’t achieve the claimed 18 mpg highway rating.

The Verdict: 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Review



The Land Cruiser and Australia share a unique history. This was the first place it was sold outside of Japan and it’s where the truck, and arguably Toyota itself, earned a reputation for being durable.
But let’s be honest. This isn’t the next evolution of the automobile. It’s not part of a growing trend. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
While SUVs like this have become increasingly irrelevant, at least in the cushy urban areas of the once-wild America, for some there is still a need for a truck like the Land Cruiser.

When you come to an environment like the Outback you realize that there are still a lot of places in the world, and even in America, where civilization is something you have to bring with you.

BMW New Future World Driverless Cars

Routemagz - After a century building what it calls the "ultimate driving machine," BMW Group is preparing for a world in which its customers will be mere passengers, and the cars will do the driving themselves.
Days before BMW's 100th birthday, Klaus Froehlich, its board member for research and development, described plans for a completely overhauled company, where half the r&d staff will be computer programmers, competing with the likes of Google parent Alphabet to build the brains for self-driving cars.
"For me it is a core competence to have the most intelligent car," Froehlich told Reuters in an interview at the Geneva auto show.
As a high-tech world opens new business opportunities, BMW sees its competitors as including firms like internet taxi service Uber and sales website Truecar, which Froehlich described as "new intermediaries."
"Our task is to preserve our business model without surrendering it to an internet player. Otherwise we will end up as the Foxconn for a company like Apple, delivering only the metal bodies for them," Froehlich said.
BMW will have to ramp up quickly, striking deals with a new network of suppliers, many from outside the traditional automotive industry.
"We have some catching up to do in the area of machine learning and artificial intelligence," Froehlich said.
Today, software engineers make up just 20 percent of the 30,000 employees, contractors and supplier staff that work on research and development for BMW.
"If I need to get to a ratio of 50:50 within five years, I need to get manpower equivalent to another 15,000 to 20,000 people from partnerships with suppliers and elsewhere," Froehlich said, adding that German schools are not producing enough tech engineers for BMW to hire them all in house.
As software becomes as important as hardware, another cultural shift could see BMW free up resources by licensing out technology produced by its own engineers, such as drivetrains for electric and hybrid vehicles.
"Going forward we will sell electric drivetrains," Froehlich said. "We see many smaller manufacturers who cannot afford to develop a plug-in hybrid."
Bragging rights
Germany's premium auto makers are at the center of the country's global reputation for meticulous engineering. Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend BMW's birthday bash at its Munich headquarters on Monday.
But with the expected shift in focus from a car's body to its brains, the risk is that the expertise will accumulate in Silicon Valley or in China, rather than Germany's carmaking regions of Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemburg.
"In the auto industry the battle will be not for horsepower but bragging rights will be 'my car is more autonomous than your car'," said Manuela Papadopol, director, global marketing automotive for Elektrobit, a software company now owned by Continental.
BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi are each making an effort to build a hub for automotive software and services. They clubbed together to buy digital map maker HERE from Nokia last year to create a neutral platform where smart cars can share data on road and traffic conditions.
BMW's own recent hiring included a 200-strong digital innovation team in Chicago, most of whom had worked for Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone pioneer.
Among the areas Froehlich identified where BMW will still need partners is in cloud computing, the technology of storing data and software remotely and accessing it over the internet. Data gathered from a car's onboard sensors will be combined with remote information, for example about weather and traffic, using next generation mobile networks, also known as 5G.
The ultimate aim would be to build as much expertise in-house as possible, although there could be mutual benefits from working with new outside suppliers.
"The thinking here is: they too have weaknesses and there may be some win win situations," Froehlich said of potential new suppliers. "Nonetheless I need to build our own in-house competence in the next 5 to 6 years."

Bugatti Chiron Revealed

Routemagz - Behold Bugatti’s new Chiron. The much-hyped successor to the Veyron and potentially the fastest car ever to enter production has been revealed today ahead of its world debut tomorrow at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
We’ll cut right to the chase. Bugatti hasn’t revealed how fast the Chiron will go, at least when unrestrained. Currently, all the company will say is that the Chiron has a top speed of 261 mph but this is a governed figure for the Chiron on public roads.
Fans will be quick to note that this is slower than the current land speed record for a production car, a speed of 267.8 mph set by Bugatti’s Veyron Super Sport back in 2010. Yes, the Chiron can go faster but Bugatti remains quiet on just how much faster. A top speed of 288 mph is rumored.
What Bugatti will tell us is that the Chiron will accelerate from 0-62 mph under 2.5 seconds, which means it’s quicker off the line than the Veyron Super Sport. Accelerating to 124 mph in the Chiron will take less than 6.5 seconds and hitting 186 mph will take less than 13.6 seconds, Bugatti claims.
That’s quicker than times set by the Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. Koenigsegg’s One:1 has been clocked hitting 186 mph in 11.922 seconds, though you could hardly call the One:1 a production car as just six examples plus one prototype were built.
Interestingly, the Chiron hasn’t adopted hybrid technology just yet. We say yet because it’s thought Bugatti is saving the option for a more potent Chiron down the track, something hinted at by former Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn.
The engine is once again a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 but now output has been dialed up to 1,500 horsepower (in metric horsepower so 1,480 hp for the United States) and 1,180 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which is available from as low as 2,000 rpm. This makes the Chiron the most powerful car in production, though this particular title is expected to pass soon to Koenigsegg’s Regera.

Audi Q2 debuts at Geneva Motor Show

Routemagz - Audi has just taken the wraps off its new Q2 at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle is a sleek compact crossover slightly smaller than the Q3 and based on the Volkswagen Group’s flexible MQB platform.
The Q2 started out life as the Q1 but only because the rights to the Q2 name were owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU], which previously used it for a front axle differential in some Alfa Romeo models. Something must have changed as now Audi is using the name.
What’s immediately clear is that the Q2 isn’t a clone of other Audi crossovers but has its own independent character within the Q family. This is part of Audi design boss Marc Lichte’s plan to further distinguish models in the Audi lineup, which in the past have been criticized for being too similar.
The vehicle stands 5.0 feet tall, has an overall length of 13.7 ft and a width of about 5.9 ft. Key highlights of the design are the signature singleframe grille, low roof and unique c-pillar treatment. Total storage is 37.1 cubic feet.
Inside, the dash design is copied from other Audis, which means you get a number of luxuries such as an available digital instrument cluster, numerous connectivity options, and the latest electronic driver aids such as adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure and blind spot warning systems.
The entry-level engine is a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder, good for about 114 horsepower. It’s mated to a 6-speed manual and spins the front wheels as standard. A quattro all-wheel-drive system and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission can be added, though. The most powerful option at launch is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four with about 187 hp on tap.
The Q2 is just one of a handful of new SUVs Audi is planning. More additions include a next-generation Q5, a Q6 based on the e-tron quattro concept unveiled last year, and a range-topping Q8. We could also see a TT-based Q4 at some point.
The Q2 will go on sale in Europe this fall. Unfortunately, the vehicle is not expected to reach the United States. However, VW will be getting its own version of the Q2, a vehicle previewed in 2014 by the T-Roc concept, and this model is expected to arrive stateside.

BAB I
Pendahuluan

A.   ABSTRAKSI
Sistem pakar (expert system) secara umum adalah sistem yang berusahamengadopsi pengetahuan manusia ke komputer, agar komputer dapat menyelesaikan masalah seperti yang biasa dilakukan oleh para ahli. Atau dengan kata lain sistem pakar adalah sistem yang didesain dan diimplementasikan dengan bantuan bahasa pemrograman tertentu untuk dapat menyelesaikan masalah seperti yang dilakukan oleh para ahli. Peningkatan tata letak parkir kendaraan merupakan salah satu konkrit yang sangat penting karena semakin meningkatnya jumlah Kendaraan setiap tahun. Sejalan dengan itu, hal yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan adalah pengaturan tempat. Masalah umum yang sering dihadapi oleh para Pengguna parkir adalah kurangnnya kapasitas parkir.
Proses perparkiran biasanya di atur oleh Satpam atau Juru Parkir, tetapi terkadang mereka tidak berada di parkir sehingga para pengguna parkir kendaraannya sembarangan meletakkan kendaraan mereka. Berdasarkan permasalahan diatas, maka dibuatlah bahan Sistem Pakar yang berbasis web menggunakan PHP dan MySQL untuk mengatasi parkir yang tidak teratur dan meningkatkan keamanan kendaraan. Aplikasi ini menunjukkan lokasi parkir kendaraan sesuai aturan tertentu. Hasil yang akan dicapai dari pembuatan aplikasi ini adalah bahwa Kendaraan bias tertata rapi secara efektif sehingga tidak menimbulkan kekeurangan lahan parkir.
Hasil yang diperoleh dari aplikasi ini adalah mempermudah dalam mengatur parkir para pengguna parkir.

B.   TUJUAN
            Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengatur tata letak agar lebih rapi dan terorganisasi sesuai status pengguna dan memonitor area parkir kendaraan.




C.   METODE PENULISAN
1.      Pengumpulan data mengenai Sistem Pakar, dan Sistem Pakar tata letak parkir, dimana pengumpulan datanya didapat dari berbagai literatur, dan media penunjang lainnya seperti internet.
2.      Dalam perancangan suatu sistem diperlukan adanya suatu metode yang sesuai dengan kebutuhannya, sehingga dengan mengikuti metode atau prosedur-prosedur yang diberikan, maka diharapkan pengembangan sistem dapat berjalan dengan baik. Adapun dalam melakukan pengembangannya, aplikasi Portal Informasi dan Sistem.

BAB II
Pembahasan

Bertambahnya kendaraan tahun demi tahun, maka area parkir menjadi pemikiran yang serius selain kegiatan masyarakat demi kenyamanan dan keamanan kendaraan selama pemilik melakukan aktifitas.
Semakin banyaknya kendaraan maupun pihak petugas yang bertugas terkadang membuat area parkir over load  sehingga suasana di lahan parkir kurang optimal maka dengan timbulnya permasalahn itu maka di buatlah rancangan untuk area parkir.
Dalam mengatur letak parkir, seorang petugas  hanya mengandalkan kemampuan diri sendiri saja. Jarang seorang petugas  yang mau menyesuaikan penataan parkir dengan membuat suatu denah sesuai jurusan tau bidang pengguna parkir.  Sehingga hasil penataan parkir  tidak bisa optimal.
Untuk itu diperlukan perancangan sistem dalam penentuan dan mengatur tata letak parkir di lahan yang ada agar hasil penataan parkir lebih optimal. Diharapkan hal tersebut dapat diimplementasikan guna kenyamanan pengguna atau pihak masyarakat selama beraktifitas di ruang publik.
Dalam mengembangkan suatu sistem, diperlukan adanya analisis dan pemodelan terhadap kebutuhan-kebutuhan sistem tersebut, sehingga pada pelaksanaannya sistem tersebut dapat menjalankan proses dengan baik sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Sebuah aplikasi harus dirancang agar dapat menjalankan fungsinya dengan baik, sehingga dapat memberikan solusi atas permasalahan yang ada.
Untuk merancang sebuah sistem, harus dilakukan analisa data terlebih dahulu. Baik itu data masukan yang dibutuhkan dalam sistem maupun data keluaran yang dihasilkan oleh sistem. Pada sistem pakar Penelitian Tindakan Lapangan (PTL) ini, sistem membutuhkan data masukan yang akan digunakan dalam proses inferensi guna menghasilkan data keluaran sistem yaitu menentukan letak parkir pengguna berdasarkan data masukan tersebut.
Sebelum mengetahui data masukan yang dibutuhkan, harus ditentukan terlebih dahulu data keluaran yang diinginkan. Pada sistem pakar ini, kebutuhan data keluaran berupa penentuan lokasi parkir. Setelah mengetahui data keluaran yang diinginkan dari sistem selanjutnya adalah melakukan analisa data masukan yang dibutuhkan. Setelah melakukan analisa data masukan dan data keluaran sistem, selanjutnya dilakukan analisa proses data di dalam sistem. Proses di dalam  sistem pakar akan melibatkan dua hal pokok, yaitu basis pengetahuan dan mesin inferensi.
Basis pengetahuan dapat berupa gejala-gejala (data masukan) serta hubungannya dengan alternatif solusi (data keluaran). Mesin inferensi berisi penentuan letak parkir untuk  menggunakan basis pengetahuan dalam menentukan objek yang sesuai dengan data masukan yang diinputkan ke dalam sistem.

Penutup

A.   KEIMPULAN
            Dari hasil perancangan aplikasi sistem pakar pengaturan tata letak dapat diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut :
1.       Perancangan sistem pengaturan tata letak parkir merupakan permasalahan yang termasuk dalam karakteristik permasalahan dalam Artificial Intelligent, sehingga dapat diimplementasikan dalam perancangan sistem pakar.
2.      Perancangan sistem pakar pengaturan tata letak parkir dapat membantu petugas dalam mengatur tata letak parkir.
3.       Data masukan ke dalam sistem sangat menentukan hasil yang di dapatkan, karena data masukan tersebut digunakan dalam proses inferensi (penalaran).
4.      Queue theory yang digunakan dalam sistem pakar tata letak parkir ini, terbukti dapat mengatur dan menata area parkir.
